The Sign of Languge

"The Sign of language"

The Sign of Languae is the overarching title for a long-standing and still ongoing research and project series.

Since 2021, I have been exploring the question of how to make dance not only more inclusive but rather less exclusive.

As a person on the autism spectrum, I understand how stressful and overwhelming it can be to experience theater and especially dance.

I want to establish a dance language that relies more on the instinctive understanding of movement. Body language that everyone can understand or interpret intuitively.

To this end, I rely on the knowledge of general body language and movement basics based on German Sign Language (DGS).

These basics are not only easy to understand, they also offer enough space to build virtuoso movement patterns on them.

In this way, dance does not lose any of its creativity or virtuosity, but rather gains a further level of storytelling.

Since 2021 I have received several grants, scholarships and residencies on this topic.

Scholarship of the MWK Baden-Württemberg 2021

Scholarship Neustart Kultur Dis-Tanzen 2023

Scholarship Windkanal LaFT BW 2023

Several pieces have already been created on this basis
